We decided that Anita from last month should choose who’s in the hot seat for February and she picked Nick!

What’s your name and role at Conjure?

My name is Nick and my role at Conjure is… not what it says on my business card! I’m an HMI Developer.

Where are you from and how long have you been at Conjure?

I’m from London and I’ve been working at Conjure for coming up to four years.

Before Conjure, what was the most unusual job you’ve ever had?

The most unusual job was in catering. The people and the event that I came across — especially gypsy weddings, they were the craziest! 100% that!

What tools do you use on a day to day basis?

I use Altia and Photoshop on a day to day basis. But also CGI Studio and Unreal and Unity. Maybe not on a day-to-day but it really depends on the project.

What’s the best thing about working at Conjure?

The atmosphere. The people. It’s laid back and relaxed. It’s not too stressful even at more stressful times. It could be so much worse, but, yeah it’s a great laid-back environment and that’s why I love working here.

What advice would you give someone new joining Conjure?

Don’t be afraid to talk and socialise. And if you have any questions or need any help at all — every single person is happy to help you, so don’t be scared to ask people when you need something.

What’s your primary hobby outside of work?

My primary hobby is music producing. I produce EDM probably more than anything else. I enjoy that and do that a lot. Other than that it’s probably movies.

What advice would you give to 10-year old Nick?

Oh wow… 10-year-old nick, erm, don’t work at gypsy weddings! OK, so when I finish uni, 'cos I did pretty well up to that point, so I wouldn’t want to change that, but when I finish uni just go straight into development — no messing around, don’t get sidetracked with other jobs. After uni was a bit of headache and I kinda didn’t know what I wanted to do. I was a bit unsure about development, but now I love it.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

Messiness is my biggest pet peeve, I’ve definitely got a bit of OCD about that.

Which cartoon character do you think you’re most like?

Ooo, I got to think. Is there an array to choose from? [Chris: no, any you like] I’m thinking something from looney tunes.. I wanna say Tazmanian Devil, yeah! I’m gunna say that because I can get a bit wild and crazy sometimes. I’m the kinda guy that likes to make random noises and I’m a bit weird and I bounce off the walls when I get excited about something!
