This month we’ve put the spotlight on Ameera — our EA who joined the team last year shortly after graduating from university.

What is your name and role at Conjure?

My name is Ameera and I’m the Executive Assistant to the three partners at Conjure.

Where are you from and how long have you been at Conjure?

I always struggle with telling people where I’m from, I was born in London but moved to Somerset at secondary school age. I moved back to London as soon as I finished school but then moved to Liverpool for university. I like to claim I’m from London, but it is debatable! I have been at Conjure now for about 5 months.

Before Conjure, what was the most unusual job you’ve ever had?

When I was a kid I had a job as a hand/arm model for a Nickelodeon advert. I had to have a fake cast put on which I was asked to doodle on, in production my doodles were turned into animated characters. That is probably the most unusual job I’ve ever had, although I’m not sure I even consider it a job, I never saw any money for it!

What tools do you use at Conjure on a daily basis?

On a daily basis, I use G-Suite products and Chrome, I also use a range of other tools such as Agile our CRM system, Mailchimp and a social media scheduler called Later.

What is the best thing about working at Conjure?

Conjure has a good atmosphere, everyone is friendly and approachable. I also think having some flexibility with working hours is a nice touch. I’m given the ability to manage my own tasks and time.

What advice would you give to someone new working at Conjure?

I would just say that everyone is really nice, so be honest and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

What’s your favourite ice-cream flavour?

I’m much more into sorbet than I am ice cream, I love any fruit flavoured sorbet. But if you’re talking ice cream only then Ben and Jerry’s Peanut Butter Cup flavour is top tier.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

I’d love to learn to play an instrument and be a great musician, but I’m absolutely tone-deaf! I would love to learn to sing too. I did try to learn an array of instruments as a kid, but It didn’t go very well.

Where is your favourite place to eat in London?

This is really difficult, I love food and eating out. I don’t think I can decide on a definitive favourite, but at the moment I’m really obsessed with a Pasta restaurant called Padella. It’s really close to the Conjure office by Borough Market and does the best fresh pasta, their burrata is also to die for! Well worth the wait.

If you had to move out of England next week where would you go?

My first instinct is to say Jamaica, the beaches are so amazing and I love Caribbean food. But more realistically a city a bit closer to home, I really like Barcelona and I could also see myself living in Copenhagen.
